We spent the day exploring Lima which has a really fun & relaxed vibe. The architecture here is beautiful. We visited Plaza de Armas of Lima, Monastery of San Francisco de Asisi – with the catacombs.
Our hostel was in the Barranco region of the city – this area is considered the bohemian and romantic neighbourhood of the city. The buildings in Barranco were beautiful on the outside, but mostly derelict on the inside.
At 6.30pm we met the other members of our G Adventures group who we will be travelling with through Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Like all first group meets it was a little odd and awkward but after a spot of dinner and a pisco sour everyone seemed to loosen up.
Its only been about 24 hours but from what we have seen so far we are really looking forward to exploring Peru.
