Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world and gateway to Antartica.

We had a few days here to explore the national parks and the Beagle Channel. Ushuaia is often referred to as the end of the world and its lighthouse features on the cover of Jules Verns’s Lighthouse at the end of the world book…. this is a little misleading as there is in fact one more lighthouse further south.

There is also a big Falklands war memorial here ans some anti-british graffiti, although in reality all the locals are really friendly and welcoming.

We also took a tour of a museum to learn about Shackleton’s expedition across the Antarctic
