Weekly Update

MONDAY

Outback Adventure Day 2 – Woke at 4AM to head out to ULURU for sunrise. After taking pictures we hopped back on the bus for a trip to the cultural centre and then onto the start of the base walk. Here we walked a complete circuit of the rock

Back to camp for dinner and another bash at sleeping in a swag, by this point we were soo tired we did not care about the lizard, snake and dingo tracks that were at our camp site when we arrived. (amazingly slept the whole night through)

TUESDAY

Outback Adventure Day 3 – Today we went for a walk around Kings Canyon. This was the highlight of the 3 day trip as the scenery was stunning

WEDNESDAY

Day spent relaxing at our hotel before heading to the airport to fly to Cairns

THURSDAY

White water rafting on the Tully River. This was pretty sweet as we had more to do than just raft the river, we had a few rapids we had to tackle floating out of the boat a bit of swimming and a 5m high rock to jump off

FRIDAY

Sea Kayaking and Snorkelling on Fitzroy island. Amazing being able to glide above the reef in the kayak before jumping in for a snorkel. We were lucky to get to spend some time with a sea turtle and all in all the coral was much more colourful and diverse than in mexico

SATURDAY

Up at 3.15AM for hot air ballooning. After an hour’s drive out of Cairns we reach our balloon and soon we are floating at 7000 feet above the ground. Awesome experience even if a little scary.

After landing we head off to Kuranda which is a small town in the rainforest. We have some lunch and mooch around the shops and markets before getting on the Sky Rail cable car back down to Cairns

There are two stops for the cable car on the way down, one to check out a waterfall and the other for a guided walk in the forest

SUNDAY

Amazing day spent on the Great Barrier Reef. Had the chance to go snorkelling, ride in a glass bottomed boat and semi-submersible. Eva took an introductory dive lesson as well.

Saw some amazing stuff in the sea, turtles, sharks, sea cucumbers, giant clams and loads of strange and exotic fish
